BORM is seeking candidates for the following positions:

Project Manager (Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering divisions) to be based in our Irvine, CA office.

Responsibilities of the Project Manager include:

  • Proposals and Contracts
    • Preparing/coordinating project budget sheets
    • Creating proposal draft documents
    • Ensuring execution of contracts (BORM and client versions)
  • Job Set-Up
    • Selecting appropriate project manager(s)
    • Reviewing all project details with selected project manager(s)
    • Approving project schedules
  • Project Management
    • Routinely monitoring milestones of all office projects
    • Monitoring staff utilization and adjusting, as needed
    • Monitoring project profitability and making adjustments, as needed
    • Approving additions or changes to project/office staff
    • Performing QC on all projects bearing Director's stamp
    • Routinely spot-checking office projects (calcs, layouts, etc.)
    • Visiting job sites periodically to spot-check executed work
    • Maintaining client relationships through various means (jobsite visits, client meetings, sales calls with business development staff, etc.)
    • Performing day-to-day engineering and/or project management during periods with heavy workload
  • Administrative Tasks 
    • Participating in development of annual office budget
    • Managing annual increase process for office(s)
    • Managing any discretionary bonus pool for office(s)
    • Conducting performance appraisals for all direct reports
    • Conducting disciplinary meetings with employees, as needed
    • Mentoring, coaching and training employees, as appropriate
    • Monitoring office conditions to ensure safety of the physical office, and maintaining appropriate day-to-day operations and emergency plans
    • Ensuring that all office procedures and protocols comply with both Company standards in addition to state/federal laws

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering
  • P.E. license preferred
  • LEED Certification preferred
  • 8-10+ years of industry experience including design for attached housing, hospitality, and commercial structures
  • Previous management experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, general structural analysis software, and AutoCAD
  • Good knowledge for Energy Codes (Title 24, IECC, etc.)
  • Strong oral/written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with all staff members
  • Attention to detail and good organization skills
